Riding the Dream: Posing at the white sand beaches in Chichiriviche

On the final day of September 2007, I left Jasper Alberta Canada without any agenda, plans or time. Living simply from my passion of photography and writing, living a freedom life while riding my Suzuki DR 350 motorcycle in search of rock climbing, surfing and experiencing different cultures along the way.

Now nearly 100 000 km, 19 countries and 4 years later... I continue to ride the dream... north from South America.

The funniest beach I've ever been on my entire trip, I've never seen so many people posing for photos. It was like watching T.V from my hammock. Little did they know I had the best shots of them!

They won for the best pose of the day!

Time for the guys to pose...

Show is over so time to go back to the main land...

Looks like Chichiriviche is a perfectly secluded place to enjoy a beach vacation. I love those photos!

Camera Gear I use

Since I need to travel as light as possible,

I'm limited on the gear I can cary...

~ Nikon D300 body

~ Nikon fisheye 10.5mm / 2.8,(but was stolen)

~ Tokina 11 - 16mm / 2.8 wide angle

~ Nikon 24-70mm / 2.8

~ Nikon 80-200mm / 2.8 zoom

~ cord remote ( for night shots)

~ silk tripod (before fell of the bike)

bunch of Sandisk extreme cards 2 / 4 and 8 gigs

~ 2 batteries

~ macbook computer 13"

~ 2 external hard drives

I carry my Body and Tokina lens in a

Top loader LowPro bag around my

shoulder while driving all the time

and other lenses in separate pouches in my tank bag.

The chosen bike

many ask me why I chose the Suzuki DR 350 - It's light, has the speed I need, easy to fix, easy to lift in boats, handles well on rough roads, it's bullet proof. I've been extremely happy with this bike, with over 80 000 km still keeps me going. A bigger bike would sure be nice on major highways, but for me it's about taking the more remote roads as possible. And a bigger bike, also means more expensive to maintain. Once I got to Uruguay, I knew I would be riding the coast of Brasil north. With many surf spots along the way, a surfboard was mandatory. I created a rack to carry my board from Re-bar. Does the trick.
